With over twenty years of experience spanning the military, government, and Hill, Michele Exner is a communications expert with great insights to share. In addition to being a Hill veteran, Michele is also a Marine Veteran. She was stationed at Camp Lejeune and was deployed to Iraq in January 2009, where she led a public affairs Marine and combat camera team.
Eventually, Michele moved with her husband and two kids from North Carolina to D.C. and she started her first Hill job as the Press Secretary for Senator Tim Scott. After, she became the Comms Director for Speaker Kevin McCarthy, where she directed her party's messaging. You definitely want to talk to Michele if you are looking for some expert comms advice!

On balancing career and family life, Michele acknowledges, "you’re really just surviving.” To make it work, she emphasizes the importance of having the right support system, including a great life partner, external help, and a community. If you're thinking about starting a family, Michele says, "have those babies!"
🏃♀️➡️ For the marathon runners out there, Michele's done about twenty. This includes ten Boston marathons and a satellite Marine Corps marathon in Iraq while she was deployed in 2009. Michele enjoys running with her kids and calls them her "running buddies."
