Peyton Rollins

Digital Assistant
Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Want to meet a Digital Assistant with an eye for graphic design and photography?

Oh, you should talk to Peyton Rollins!

Meet Peyton Rollins, the Digital Assistant for Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (LCD) and a Political Communication student at George Washington University. CNCT is recognizing Peyton as a “Leader of Tomorrow” for his dedication to his office, positive outlooks, and outstanding digital media skills.

Peyton originally came to D.C. in 2022 for college, and started as a comms intern on the Hill around the same time. After hopping around to a few different offices, he eventually was hired as a Digital Assistant for Rep. LCD.

When we asked Peyton why he enjoys working for Rep. LCD, he said:

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a boss quite like LCD. The amount of care she shows for her district, her staff, and all Oregonians is incredible. She always makes sure to check in on everyone and gets to know people on a personal level. This positivity is contagious, and helps everyone on staff perform at their best.”

Peyton has a knack for graphic design and photography. If you don’t believe us, check out his website here. When he’s not capturing the perfect shot, Peyton enjoys cheering on the Florida Gators, theater, hiking, and learning how to cartwheel from Rep. LCD (keep reading to hear the story)... ⬇️

His Backstory

🏠 Hometown: Spartanburg, South Carolina
🎓 College & Major: George Washington University (Political Communication)
💭 Favorite Hill Memory: “It’s so hard to pick one. A couple of weeks ago, LCD, our comms director, and I went and filmed a video for our socials where Lori does a cartwheel. After we got done filming her video, she looked at us and said, ‘Okay, your turn,’ and proceeded to teach us how to do a cartwheel. My cartwheel (if you can call it that) was atrocious, but that was a really fun day.”

What do Peyton’s coworkers have to say?

For a junior Staffer, Peyton has already made quite the positive impact in his office. Here’s what his nominator had to say about him:

“Peyton is only 20 years old, but has absolutely mastered the art of digital communications without even completing his bachelor's degree or taking any classes in graphic design... His motivation and confidence is something that everyone should get to know, and his passion for serving others is amazing. His talent is AWESOME. He's a great emerging videographer and graphic designer, and creates funny reels that engage a younger audience that most Republican offices have yet to do.”

Peyton’s Guide on How to CNCT

Peyton’s pointers on connecting with others: memes. Read about it here:

“I think just getting to know people for who they are. I love talking to people about stuff outside of work and the Hill. I also really enjoy making meme group chats/sharing memes with people – I think humor brings everyone together and helps form strong connections.”

With those in the opposite party…

“I’m still a student at George Washington, and most of my friends are actually from the opposite party. A lot of times I try to separate politics from my relationships with people and connect with them over other things like college football, a love for shows like Parks and Rec, etc…”

Staffer Advice

Be nice to everyone.”

“One thing I’ve noticed and heard while working on the Hill is that this place is kind of like a small town, and everyone knows everybody. So, whether it’s saying ‘hi’ to a former coworker or holding the Longworth elevator door for someone, I try to be nice to everyone and treat them the way I’d want to be treated.”
