Jihun has had a unique journey to the Hill. Starting in his home state of Oregon, he hopped on the campaign trail with Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer in her 2022 bid for a House seat, the culmination of a near decades long relationship between the two. After winning the congressional race, Jihun moved with Rep. Chavez-DeRemer to D.C., first as her Transition Aid, then as her Chief of Staff at the beginning of 2023.
Jihun notes that his favorite Hill memory to date has been getting to see his boss sworn into office after the grueling 15-round Speaker race.
Before coming to Congress, Jihun worked as a sports writer and radio host for his alma mater, Syracuse University, as well as other news outlets. Shortly after, Jihun got his start working in politics as the Campaign Manager for Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer's run for the Oregon State House in 2016. Jihun continued his work in state politics until coming to the Hill.

“I’ve essentially worked on and off for the Congresswoman for the last eight years. My first job out of college was working for Lori in 2016 when she ran for the state house. We came up short in that race, but built a great friendship and trust for one another. She has always valued my input and we’ve built a great working relationship over the years. She’s easily the best boss I’ve ever had in my professional career.”
